Victoria Mutual continues its sponsorship of the National Spelling Bee Competition - VMBS News & Events
Victoria Mutual is pleased to announce its continued sponsorship of the Annual Gleaner/Children's Own Spelling Bee Competition, which begins on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 with Parish Finals for St. Elizabeth and Manchester. In addition to the corporate sponsorship, Victoria Mutual will award prizes to the Champion Girl in each parish, the National Champion Girl and the National Champion Coach.
In making the announcement, Mrs. Vivienne Bayley-Hay, VMBS Vice-President, Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs said "We are happy to continue our association with the Gleaner's Spelling Bee Competition. At Victoria Mutual, our focus is building a better society through tangible contributions, such as youth development and education. This competition is an important initiative that promotes literacy and helps the participants develop communication and public speaking skills, self-confidence and the ability to perform under pressure."
The parish finals will be completed by early October, with the anticipated National Finals scheduled for February 2012. The National Champion will go on to represent Jamaica at the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee Competition in Washington DC, USA.
